Statement on Coliseum from District 4 Councilmember Sheng Thao

Currently the city is working closely with the Oakland A’s to potentially develop a new stadium at Howard Terminal. Councilmember Sheng Thao is committed to working with the City of Oakland, Oakland A’s, and Alameda County to ensure an equitable agreement is made around the future of the Oakland A’s, the Oakland Coliseum, and the potential Howard Terminal development.

Oakland California - Last week the Oakland City Council unanimously asked the City Administrator to meet with County officials to resolve issues facing our shared public land at the Oakland Coliseum. Councilmember Sheng Thao is deeply committed to working to ensure the Oakland A’s remain in the City of Oakland.

“I absolutely support the Oakland A's remaining in Oakland, as they are a core part of the soul of our city,” stated Councilmember Thao, “and as a public servant I support maintaining good governance on behalf of the people of Oakland as we negotiate a good faith solution”.

Currently the city is working closely with the Oakland A’s to potentially develop a new stadium at Howard Terminal. Councilmember Sheng Thao is committed to working with the City of Oakland, Oakland A’s, and Alameda County to ensure an equitable agreement is made around the future of the Oakland A’s, the Oakland Coliseum, and the potential Howard Terminal development.

The Councilmember’s office will release more details around the lawsuit and Howard Terminal project when they are made available to the public.
