Homicide Investigation in the 1200 block of 83rd Avenue

On November 7, 2020, at approximately 11:34 PM officers were on patrol when they heard gunshots coming from the area of 83rd Avenue and A Street. The Communications Division additionally received a ShotSpotter activation in the 1200 block of 83rd Avenue. Officers checked the area and located a male adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid until Oakland Fire Department personnel and Falck ambulance crew arrived on the scene. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.

Oakland Police Homicide Investigators responded to the scene and began the follow-up investigation into the circumstances surrounding the apparent shooting. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
