Homicide Investigation in the 9800 Block of Sunnyside Street

On September 28th, 2020 at about 10:41 p.m., the Oakland Police Department responded to the 9800 Block of Sunnyside Street to investigate a ShotSpotter alert. Upon arrival officers located a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital; however, the victim succumbed to his injuries.

The victim was identified as a 17-year-old, male, Oakland resident.

Oakland Police Homicide Investigators responded to the scene and began the follow-up investigation into the circumstances surrounding the apparent shooting. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
