Oakland, CA – Following the closure earlier this week of the Covid Clinic in downtown Oakland at Frank Ogawa Plaza, City of Oakland leadership met with the founder and CEO of Covid Clinic to resolve operational challenges at that site. The City and the non-profit Covid Clinic have renewed their partnership founded on their mutual commitment to ensure that COVID testing and vaccinations reach our most vulnerable communities and continue during this critical time of the pandemic.

“Amid the season of holiday travel and gatherings, coupled with the emergence of the omicron variant here in the East Bay, it is critical that Oaklanders have easy access to COVID vaccines, boosters, and rapid testing,” said Oakland City Administrator Ed Reiskin. “I am pleased that Covid Clinic is committed to continuing its partnership with the City in providing these essential services to our community, and we are eager to support their efforts to expand locations in the coming weeks.”

“It is our mission to bring testing and vaccination to where it’s needed the most, and we are very pleased to be working in close partnership with Oakland, said Matt Collins, CEO, Covid Clinic. “We’re on the right track.”

Covid Clinic has agreed to re-open the Frank Ogawa Plaza site for both vaccinations and testing as soon as possible, and is partnering with the City of Oakland to identify additional sites and events where these services can be offered.

While the details regarding the re-opening of the Frank Ogawa Plaza site and potential expansion to other sites throughout the City are being worked out, the free, walk-up Covid Clinic in Fruitvale is open:
