About

The project improves safety for pedestrians crossing 98th Ave at the Cherry St intersection. It consists of a concrete median installed on top of the existing painted median. It will provide a break in the middle of the street for pedestrians crossing 98th Ave and prevent drivers from using the middle lane as a travel lane.

Construction will last seven (7) days from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On three (3) of the construction days (Sat 7/11, Sun 7/12, and Tue 7/14), the westbound lane will be closed to traffic between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thru traffic will be detoured to Bancroft Avenue but local traffic will continue to have access to Sunnyside, Olive, and Birch streets. On the days the westbound lane is opened, traffic will be slowed by construction activity. Please expect delays and plan your travels ahead.

The project is being managed by our Safe Streets Traffic Engineering team, and the project manager is Leo Hernando.
