Bay Friendly Landscape Ordinance - Municipal: As part of the effort to ensure that new municipal buildings and sires are sustainable and efficient, the city requires all new government buildings and landscaping projects to comply with the practices of the Bay Friendly Landscape Guidelines.

Bay Friendly Landscape Ordinance - Residential: In addition to municipal buildings, all newly constructed homes in Oakland are required by law to follow the practices of the Bay Friendly Landscape Guidelines.

California Water Efficiency Landscaping Ordinance (WELO): The Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (WELO) is a statewide water conservation law for new and renovated landscapes. The ordinance applies to any single-family or multi-family residential, public, institutional or commercial project that requires a permit, plan check or design review from the local reviewing agency and meets certain size thresholds.
