Through May 18, 2018, the City of Oakland is accepting development proposals for two parcels located at 6226 Moraga Avenue. The northern parcel, Parcel A, is about 23,884 square feet, while the 15,652-square-foot Parcel B is the site of the historic Montclair firehouse. Both parcels are upsloping toward the rear. Submitted proposals may be to develop either one or both parcels and can be in the form of a purchase, lease or any other type of agreement.

Constructed in 1927, the Storybook-style Montclair firehouse was designated an Oakland City Landmark in March 1980. While the building received seismic upgrades around 1960, the firehouse was closed in 1993 due to its location on the Hayward fault.

Nestled among soaring redwoods and adjacent to a municipal park and recreation center, these parcels are two short blocks from the heart of the Montclair Village shopping district with easy access to Hwy. 13 (77,000 annual average daily traffic). Within a one-mile radius, the area has a population of 14,250, a median household income of $183,937 and a median home value of $971,194. The parcels have a Walk Score of 81 and a Bike Score of 41.

Three open houses will be held to provide interested parties an opportunity to view the parcels. Those wishing to tour the property will need to sign a waiver form.

  • Monday, April 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 22, from 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Monday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
