Homicide Investigation in the 650 block of 53rd Street

On March 31, 2021, around 12:04 AM, the Oakland Police Department Patrol Division responded to the 650 block of 53rd Street to investigate a ShotSpotter Activation.

On March 31, 2021, around 12:04 AM, the Oakland Police Department Patrol Division responded to the 650 block of 53rd Street to investigate a ShotSpotter Activation. Upon arrival, officers located a 40-year-old male San Pablo resident suffering from gunshot wound(s). Oakland Fire Department personnel and Falck ambulance crew responded to the scene and provided medical treatment. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Oakland Police Homicide Investigators responded to take over the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin. Anyone with information can contact the Homicide Section at (510) 238-3821 or the TIP LINE at (510) 238-7950.
