Apply for a Facade and Tenant Improvement Program Grant

• ​Current City of Oakland Business License​
• Description of desired improvements​
• Lease agreement for Business, with at least three years remaining (if leasing)

• If approved, grantees will choose their own contractor, as well as their own architect if design work is needed.​
• Staff will provide grantees with a roster of local architects and contractors through partner efforts with the Construction Resource Center.​

• Be aware that permit requirements will add time and cost to your project timeline. However, many permits are now available online.

• Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing Permit for Lighting, plumbing & mechanical work- simple online permit, no architectural drawings needed​

• Support the City's broader economic development goals
• Improve the retail climate of the surrounding commercial district
• Enhance the appearance of the property and preserve/restore valuable historical features
