Oakland's Summer Food Service Program

Oakland's Summer Food Service Program - Closed for 2022

About

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) delivers free breakfast and lunch during summer break, providing access to nutritious meals at convenient locations throughout the city while school is out of session. Healthy meals help children get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow - and this makes children better prepared to start another school year.

In partnership with Town Camps, Oakland Housing Authority sites, Oakland Public Libraries, and community organizations, Oakland SFSP serves healthy snacks and meals to low-income children and teens. All Oakland kids 18 and under, and adults with disabilities enrolled in a school program, are eligible to participate.

Oakland Opens Annual Summer Food Program

Approximately 20,000 children in the Oakland community depend on free and reduced-cost school meals during the school year. However, most families struggle to replace those meals for their children during the summer months. The City’s Summer Food Service Program bridges the meal gap by providing access to nutritious meals at convenient locations throughout Oakland while school is out of session.
