Universal Basic Mobility Pilot

Oaklanders are being randomly selected to receive funding for transit, shared mobility, and other mobility-related services through prepaid debit cards and Clipper Cards. Stay tuned for project updates!

WEST OAKLAND PARTICIPANTS

In the West Oakland Pilot, up to 1,000 West Oaklanders will be eligible to receive up to $320 thanks to grant funding from the Alameda County Transportation Commission. OakDOT staff is preparing to conduct outreach to spread the word this Summer, and plans to distribute cards by Spring 2023. The pilot will continue for 18 months. Please follow the link below to determine your eligibility for the West Oakland UBM Pilot. We will mail/e-mail transit passes by Spring 2023.

EAST OAKLAND PARTICIPANTS

The East Oakland Pilot ended in Winter 2021, but prepaid cards can still be activated. If you were randomly selected to receive a prepaid card, then you should have received your card loaded with $150 in the mail in early December. Remember that your card can only be used to buy trips or passes on public transit and shared mobility (bikeshare, e-scooters).

When you receive your prepaid card, activate it and begin using your funds. In January you will receive a survey link by email. After you take this survey, you will receive your second and final $150 loaded to your prepaid card.

Remember that you can only use your card on public transit, bikeshare, and e-scooters, including (but not limited to) these providers:
